Do it. This was my epiphany at the gym today. If everything in
your life is falling to pieces, if loved ones have left you high
and dry in your most desparate time of need, then kill yourself. Do
it my way, though. A little at a time. That last rep that you can't
squeeze out cause you know you'll die? F*CKING DO IT. One more rep,
one more day starving yourself of the foods you feel yourself
salivating over, one more day plotting supplementation, and one
more day hating the people that don't care. Kill yourself. Rip
every fiber of your being apart on that last rep; feel the muscle
unraveling from your arms and being strewn about laxadasically on
the ground. Feel the burn in your legs on the deepest, heaviest
squat you've ever done. Remember the words of Henry Rollins,
"Friends come and go, but 200 pounds is 200 pounds." The
Iron will be there for you; through thick or thin, through
relationships dissolving, through friends dying, through
opportunities missed and lives shattered, the iron will be there
for you; beckoning you to be a man and step up. All those
whiny pussies whom I have heard speak openly about how bad their
life is; I wish I could teleport them onto a bench midway through a
3-plate bench or the 19th rep of a 20 rep squat and check out the
look on their faces. No one dies like us, brothers. No one dies for
20 sets everyday, only waking up the next day eager to do it again.
When life gets you down, let that depression pump you the f*ck up.
Enjoy.
